Milan – The Fashion & Design Capital!

Milan is one of Europe’s most important centers for high fashion, modern designs, banking and finance. It is considered one of the world’s capitals for fashion and design. Many famous fashion designers such as Versace, Armani, Gucci, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada have their headquarters in Milan now.

Top Attractions

Most important places in Milan include Leonardo da Vinci’s mural of the Last Supper, the Milan Duomo, La Scala Opera House and the Galleria Vittorio Emanule II (shopping plaza). Other attractions are the San Siro Stadium, Sforza Castle, the Via Montenapoleone, and the Pinacoteca di Brera.

Famous Artworks

The mural of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most amazing and beautiful artworks in the world. It is located in the Santa Maria della Grazie church at the refectory of the convent. Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus, which is at the Brera Academy, has one of the most touching portrayal of Jesus Christ. Caravaggio’s other masterpiece, Basket of Fruit, is at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana.

FASHION:  Milan is famous for its fashion houses and shops which are located on Via Montenapoleone and at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Most people visit Milan to shop for Italian branded shoes, men’s suits and women’s fashion wear.

SOCCER:  Italy’s top two soccer teams are from Milan – AC Milan and Internazionale Milano.  Most tourists come to Milan to see the games played at the San Siro stadium during season!

OPERA:  Milan is also an international center for the Opera.  Milan’s La Scala opera house has hosted the premieres of many world famous operas such as Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi, La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli and Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini.
